Annual
Autumn Fires Community Clay Pit Firing
The
centerpeice of Autumn Fires is the all-night Saturday firing of the
various peices of clay objects that are made during Autumn
Fires. From children and novices to artists, everybody can
fashion something from the clay! Come give it a try.
Throughout Saturday, we make things of clay and let them dry.
Around dinnertime, we load our brick-lined in-ground pit and tend the
fire in celebration through the night. In the morning, we comb
the warm ashes to see what the fire has made. Great fun!
The
firing of clay vessels and other clay objects began with native
cultures creating functional wares for use in gathering food and
water. Later, the process evolved to include figurines and other
sculptural objects. In the past few decades, there has been a renewed
interest in primitive firing processes, as artisans become more
interested in the spontaneous effects of these firing processes, and
the aesthetic and decorative qualities that occur as a result of the fire.

Wormz
A
playful dance of personal stories, curiosities, journeys, passions,
and beautiful connections to the world. Born and raised in the
village of Genoa, Ohio she migrated southeast to Athens County where
she fell in love with rural Appalachia. For the past five years she
has been traveling the country; volunteering on organic farms, living
in tents, telling stories, teaching environmental education, sharing
food, hitch-hiking, driving, walking, dancing, singing, and writing
songs somewhere in between. She has played in coffee shops, at
festivals, on street corners, in a desert squat town, in living
rooms, in theaters, and perhaps most preferably around campfires.
With a palatable sweetness, her acoustic folk songs range from
inspirational to silly and from politically conscious to oddly
provocative. Sandstone, hemlocks, and whippoorwills weave themselves
in and out of her lyrics. Her voice can soothe and energize, calm and
electrify leaving the audience with inspiration, fresh
interpretations, and thought-provoking smiles.

Ginger
Ackley
Ginger
Ackley is a Texas native happily transplanted to Ohio. She's
taken her life-long passion for music, combined it with a love
of history and tradition, and melted into a delightful style of
Folk she calls "Celtic with a twist!"! Ginger's
songbag is full of traditional and contemporary songs as she plays
her autoharp and penny whistles. Her original songs are very
much "old style" and she "tells the story" every
time she sings. Her latest CD, "It Is Time" brings a
very special blend of hauntingly beautiful melody and soul-touching
lyrics together in a contemporary folk album. Ginger also
has a CD and book written for children called "All Earth's
Children" that speaks to kids of all ages about living well with
the Spirit of the Earth on this blue planet of ours. Ginger has
shared the stage with The Pale Daisies, Red McWilliams, jammed with
Aoife Clancy, Jimmy Crowley, Jeb Marum, the Brobdinagian Bards, the
Heritage Minstrels and the Bedlam Bards.

Forge
James
Kelly Demonstrating
Artist
Blacksmith
O'Kelley has been fabricating and welding metal crafts using modern
methods for 16 years. He has been demonstrating traditional
coal-forge blacksmithing at Renaissance Faires in Michigan and
Indiana for five years. He also forged at Wisteria's Summer
Solstice earlier this year. It was his first Earth based
festival and he looks forward to returning many times in the
future. His interest in blacksmithing has evolved into an
effort to pass knowledge of the craft on to others in order that the
art does not die. He attends the Unitarian Church in
Huntington, West Virginia with his wife Vallorie and his daughters
Sierra, Rowan and Catie. One of his goals is to learn more
about his Celtic origins, particularly their forging techniques. |

Connecting

Princess Petal
We
will use guided Meditation, Crystals and Energy healing to Cleanse
and Balance the Heart Chakra, Recognizing Healthy Love ~ and what's
Not, Learn about using crystals , candles, herbs and other tools to
help manifest the love you want
About
Petal: Following an eclectic spiritual path Petal has found a deep
connection with the spirit realm.
Petal
has spent nearly 2 decades working with abused children and women,
working with the foster care system, shelters and other agencies.
During this work she experienced a great reawakening her spiritual
gifts that have been with her since childhood, she comes from a
family linage of at least 4 generations of mediums and healers. In
her late 20s she became consciously aware that she is a natural
psychic/medium and empath with clairvoyant gifts. This means that
Spirit communicates with her in words, images and feelings, which she
is able to share with you. Since then she has done many
readings and workshops connecting people with their higher spiritual
selves. She tunes into a persons totem animal or guardian angel
and assists them in learning how to tap into that power and energy
for the betterment of their health and happiness.
Tarot
Spreads-Think outside the book! by CeCe
A
fun class to share favorite Tarot spreads and perhaps create new
ones that work better for you by examining the patterns and
underlying meanings. Please bring your cards if you have them
with you. Possibility of exchanging readings if time
permits. Bring something to sit on, and a blanket or towel to
spread the cards on if no tables.
about
MeAgenn : I've been reading the Tarot cards for about 20 years
now. The spreads commonly used -such as the "Celtic
Cross" -- never seemed to work well for me and I could never
remember what the positions meant anyway. Instead I use several
spreads that were created by friends of mine and some that I created myself. |
