In 2003, Bradley began
collaborative residencies at Wisteria Nature Preserve, and has
produced site-specific installations on Wisteria land. These projects
are always concerned with the shared philosophical values of the
community of Wisteria and the artist himself. The dialogue of the
work is also invested in the effects of time and the elements on
materials, as well as the ability of nature to transform and reclaim
the effects of human intervention within the environment. Casey also
coordinates the clay working and pit firing activity at Wisteria's
"Autumn Fires" event. |

Annual
Autumn Fires Community Clay Pit Firing
The
firing of clay vessels and other clay objects began with native
cultures creating functional wares for use in gathering food and
water. Later, the process evolved to include figurines and other
sculptural objects. In the past few decades, there has been a renewed
interest in primitive firing processes, as artisans become more
interested in the spontaneous effects of these firing processes, and
the aesthetic and decorative qualities that occur as a result of the
fire. more |
