The Great Smashed Grape Bash (aka the Danse McCob) In days gone by, when the world was much younger (in the words of Gwen Zak), the Greek worshippers of Dionysos would find a forest glade and there erect a post which served as both the representative image of the God and as a marker denoting the establishment of a Temenos, or sacred space. Within those sacred bounds, the worshippers would honor and commune with their God through boundary-breaking ecstatic revelry.
On Saturday evening, join us in the Grove of the Green Faerie as we celebrate a modern interpretation of the ancient Greek festival of the Ampelia, which was traditionally held near this time of year. Here, under the watchful gaze of the Lord of Indestructible Life, we will celebrate the mysteries of the Vine. This adult dance and costume party will open with prayers and libations to Dionysos and Ariadne, and requests for blessings of safety, ecstasy and joy for its participants.
Bring a joyous attitude, along with wine, beer, or mead for the Wine Gods vat (but no hard liquor, please). 21 and over only, and please bring your own cup.
Hosted by The Green Faerie Grove of Columbus, Ohio.
